Machine Settings – For Steel, stainless steel, nickel alloys, and pretty much anything except aluminum, and magnesium, your tig welding machine will be set to DCEN (direct current electrode negative) aka Straight polarity.
For your main Tig China Welding Equipment, try to locate a Miller syncrowave 250 on eBay or craigslist. If you are patient, you can find one with all the accessories for 2000 bones or less. A bargain.
Hold the torch like a big first grade pencil. Touch the tip of the tungsten to the metal and then pull it back about 1/8 inch. Flip your helmet down and press the pedal to initiate the arc.
Don’t melt the aluminum right away though, watch the black stuff cook away from the arcs cleaning action before you melt the metal. Then press the pedal far enough to create a puddle that is about 3-4 times the thickness of the metal you are welding.
I guess that most DIY or home welders will use what is called a gasless welding wire. This is also known as a flux cored wire. Be careful though because there are two different types of flux cored welding wires. Well actually there are a lot more than two, but for general home welding make sure that you get a gasless MIG welding wire that is a E71T-GS.
The test metal was 3/8″ thick and was welded in the vertical position. The root pass was welded downhill and the rest of the welding passes were done uphill.
Next, measure 6″ from the free end and mark again. Bend the sheet at this point and this will be welded at the specific indication to the back of the overhang.
In conclusion, when you’re looking to buy welding supplies you should always buy materials that will provide you with security, safety, and durability. Don’t just buy something that’s cheap because you want to save money, because in one year you’ll be buying the same thing again. Think for the long-term, and by something that will last you at least 5 to 10 years in you will be happy that you did. I hope you enjoy your welding supplies and have a safe welding experience.
