The rules and strategies that I use can help even the worst marketer of music get the word out about that new sound. The first thing that I think about as an artist is branding. I know branding sounds a lot like a full throttle business tactic. I believe you have to recognize yourself as a brand if you’re going to survive in this business. The fastest and best way to brand your music is to offer an experience to your customer. This could be a free Cd or DVD anything that gives the audience a taste of your music. Think of eating at a restaurant, don’t you remember that experience for a long time. Then when you see that logo again, you remember that name. If the experience was good then you eat there again, if not you won’t ever eat there again. You won’t even recommend it to friends.
Make free samples of your music for your fans; select your best songs as they will create the first impression to your listeners. Perform at gigs for free, as publicity is key to success in free music promotion.
Remember, the music industry is quite dynamic and competitive nowadays. There is said to be a large gap between your music and a potential fan and an even larger gap between your music and a record label. Having a sound marketing plan could help you bridge this gap and eventually make you a step closer to that record label.

E.B.:I honestly can’t think of anyone. I’ve performed with a lot of people in the past that I enjoyed working with, but where I am right now, I’m happy just playing with my band.
Who are the perennial users of Instagrams’s capability to sell music online / albums and gain fans? Indie bands such as: The National, Shiny Toy Guns; dance impresario Moby; rockers Deftones, and media darling Zooey Deschanel. They post a myriad of photos and fans are forever hooked.
Music promotion – If you have a love for music why not start putting on gigs in your local area. The secret is to book and pay for a main band who will pull in lots of fans then get three other bands to play for free. You can charge a good price on the door which will pay for the main band and you keep all the profits. Just promote the gigs on Facebook and MySpace and you have just started a promotions company!
